We said goodbye to Yellowstone National Park, exiting through the historic Roosevelt Arch and making our way into Montana.
Much like Wyoming, Montana greeted us with mountains, beautiful scenery, and incredible landscapes. And, as usual, we chose the back roads instead of the interstate. There’s just something about taking the scenic route—you get to see the small towns and places you would otherwise miss.
Because of the distance between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, we stopped overnight in Helena, Montana. We enjoyed a great dinner and warm hospitality at On Broadway. While there, we met a local couple seated next to us who shared helpful information about Glacier National Park and the surrounding area. They even invited us to church! Unfortunately, we had to decline because we were heading out the next day, but it was another reminder of the kindness we’ve encountered along this journey.
On our way out of Helena, we drove through a little town that shares the same name as our city back home. You guessed it…
Augusta, Montana! 😂
Of course, James’s thirst for unique experiences would not allow us to simply drive through. We had to stop and check out one of the town’s historic buildings. Another unexpected memory added to the road trip!
Eventually, we arrived at Glacier National Park, where the scene at the entrance was familiar—everyone taking their turn getting pictures in front of the park sign. 📸
One thing we noticed immediately was the temperature! It had dropped about 20 degrees from Helena. Our accommodations are similar to Yellowstone—a cozy cabin tucked away in the woods. It’s peaceful, rustic, and definitely gives us the full national park experience.
Now we’re settled in and ready to see what Glacier National Park has in store for us.
Stay tuned to see what the next few days bring! 🏔️🌲
