Road Trip Adventures – Days 9 & 10 🦬🏔️🌋

Day 9 – Rock Springs to Old Faithful Lodge, Yellowstone National Park

Another adventurous day on our journey to Yellowstone National Park!

Before entering Yellowstone, we drove through the breathtaking Grand Teton National Park, where we met a young African American couple from New York while stopping to take photos. Grand Teton was their primary destination, and it was great sharing the experience with fellow travelers.

Once we entered Yellowstone through the South Entrance, we quickly realized just how massive the park is. Although our lodging at the Old Faithful Lodge Cabins was only about 30 miles from the entrance, the drive seemed to last forever because the speed limits range from 25 to 45 mph. The scenery, however, made every mile worthwhile.

If you’re planning a trip to Yellowstone, be sure to visit YellowstoneNationalParkLodges.com when booking accommodations. The park offers several lodging areas, but they are spread out and can be many miles apart, so planning ahead is essential.

Yellowstone is the third most-visited national park in the United States, welcoming nearly 4.8 million visitors in 2025. Spanning approximately 2.2 million acres with more than 500 miles of roads, it’s easy to see why exploring this incredible park takes time.

Day 10 – Geysers, Bison, and Seven Miles of Exploring

GEYSERS… GEYSERS… and more GEYSERS!

Today was all about Yellowstone’s incredible geothermal wonders. We watched Old Faithful erupt twice, along with several other impressive geysers throughout the day.

Our morning adventure got off to an exciting start when three bison casually wandered through the area. We admired them—and took plenty of pictures—from a safe distance as they strolled by without the slightest concern for the people or cameras around them.

The geothermal activity throughout the park is truly amazing. Between the colorful hot springs, steaming vents, bubbling pools, and powerful geysers, there’s something incredible around every corner.

By the end of the day, we had walked approximately seven miles, taking in the beauty of Old Faithful, the historic Old Faithful Inn, and many of the surrounding attractions. The weather has been absolutely perfect, making it an unforgettable day in one of America’s most remarkable national parks.

  1. You guys are making beautiful memories!! When I think of a national park I think of Yellowstone, so I was surprised to read that it’s the 3rd most visited national park. When I start my national park journey, Yellowstone is going to be a MUST SEE!! PS: So glad you weren’t attacked by a bison. I can’t get that viral video out of my mind of the bison attacking a visitor. PPS: Yvonne, loving the cap.😂
